This is a 3D model of our train station that has been designed in Revit. Our train station size is 60 by 30 meters, the station is designed uniquely, having a a beautiful design while using environmentally friendly materials. the station has a waiting area, pharmacy, and a sidra store.

Structural Plan
This picture shows out an exploded view of our 3d model structural plan. Explaining the levels of our plan and the structural materials used in each level. Starting from the basement we have a raft foundation with shear walls and concrete columns, then we have the ground floor with concrete slab and and columns with a space frame trusses roof.
Why Raft Foundation?
Basement
Based on our studies, Al-Khor area has a lot of underground water which could settle down the building. Therefore, we will be using Raft foundation as it has an enhanced bearing capacity, and it reduces the differential settlements as it allows us to do tanking. Moreover, it transfers the load of the building into a larger area of footing compared to other foundations, thus reducing the stress on the soil.

Retaining walls & concrete columns
shear walls resist the soil's pressure and the hydrostatic pressure from the water table as they provide stiffness therefore, Shear walls are a great combination with raft foundations, as they act together with the ground floor's slab to resist horizontal forces like wind and earthquakes. As there are concrete columns to provide additional support to the shear walls.

Ground floor
For the ground floor we will have a concrete slab, with 15 columns at a span of 15 meters horizontally and vertically. The columns are made out of a circular concrete, that are cladded with rectangular steel which would help hide the columns in the shops.
Space Frame Trusses
In our train station we wanted to minimize the number of columns as much as possible by having long span columns. Space trusses are considered to be one of the best options to have a long span column as its a lightweight structure. The secret of trusses is that they have high stiffness, which means they will have controlled deflections
